Utvikling og modernisering av NHE til en konkurransedyktig og bærekraftig mekanisk verksted som møter behov for utstyr og tjenester i vannkraftsektoren

Nepal is on its edge to take a leap to develop the potential of the rivers and set up a number of hydro power stations.

The access to sufficient energy will be of great benefit to the industry and the people’s daily consume.  The need for supply of products and maintenance for the hydro power sector is enormous. Based on the request from the Nepali government, the Norwegian government together with the Asian Development Bank have in 2019 signed a contract in order to finance the transmission lines at the boarder of India. This could potential be a good business for Nepal Hydro and Electric Ltd (NHE).

IKNI is one of the major owners of NHE together with BPC, which is Nepal's leading manufacturer and refurbishes of hydro and electric power equipment.

NHE is maintaining a high standard in services and providing quality products. The mechanical workshop was established by Odd Hoftun, in 1985 and has roughly 200 employees. NHEs closest neighbour is BTI, which annually receive 90 of the apprentices of BTI. In order for NHE to continue to be leading in its sector, meet the new demands for the construction of the hydro power stations on an international level, they need to advance.

In order to take this leap NHE will need new technology and also specialize into new products. Today there is a great competition from the neighbouring countries, India and China. NHE has a great potential given its good reputation and are glad to see that the Norwegian development aid is also focusing on strengthen the energy sector as well as business related initiatives.
